My first complete one anyway :>
I've partially repaired a ceiling before, but this was my first ceiling tile install.

So, feeling a bit accomplished, though definitely a workout up and down the ladder and pressing those things up there and trimming sizes and so forth.

I had bought these things a couple years ago, but with the stay-home ethic I finally decided to give it a go.

They are mostly like this, and light as a feather :}
But it still takes about a minute of pressing upward before it sets... works them muscles!
Now to get some moulding to install at the edges.

I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. I hope to take a similar approach to two more rooms, sooner or later.

Nice! Makes my shoulders ache just thinking about it, though :o)

It was certainly a workout! Early on in the process I had some sciatica, but I don't know if it was directly related, because it eased up eventually even though I continued the project, thank goodness!

Wow, fancy. So how does it work? Just glue to an "ordinary" ceiling?

The only experience with "tiles" I have is with drop-ceilings, and that's it's own unique brand of nightmare.

I'd be interested to see how the whole thing turns out when complete. :)

As someone who has to perform ceiling checks at least monthly, I can tell you that drop ceiling tiles never ever stop shedding crumbs.

hehheh... yep, luckily these are not brittle or loose at all... just a styrofoam sheet, so it's not plaster or popcorn...

I'll try to post some additional links soon!
You basically prep the ceiling (make sure it's as flat as possible and clean so that they will stick, and you use a special adhesive for styrofoam called Soudal 50a (made in Belgium.. there's another one made in Turkey that I got as a backup but I didn't need it)... then you hold them up in place for about ten seconds to a minute... try to line them up straight because errors magnify along a path... then voila!... You have a new ceiling!

I'm getting to that age where anything involving a ladder had better be REALLY important.
