Right there... on the first page of calculating postal rates, the first three choices.. yes, right at the top:
1) cremated bodies
2) live animals
3) day-old poultry

USPS, are you a stand up comic now?

Unless I've been missing out on trends, these are not the first 3 things I think of to mail ;>

---

In other news, I've been wanting to do some things, but these are "not sure what to do" wants... not needs...
- Fix the suspension on my cars. The really old ones have trouble. One is bottoming out, and the other I think just needs shocks. That first one I think may need springs, because I already replaced the shocks and it didn't help.

- Clean/do maintenance on the floor furnace

Trouble is, I don't know where to find a real pro :\

When I fixed a furnace years ago, it took about half a dozen tried to find a furnace pro, and I think that guy has retired.

When I got the roof repaired years ago, it took about a dozen tried to find someone Honest, Affordable, and Capable.

And when I got shocks/struts in the past, they never seemed to help.

Is this how the world is? Why is there SO much chaff to weed out in some fields before you can find someone who knows their job?

What a waste of time it can be.... rarrrgh.

Trouble is, I don't know where to find a real pro :\

We had a gas-fired floor furnace in our first house. It worked so I never had to look someone up. As it was gas off the street and not propane I don’t know who I would have called in the event of maintenance.

I used to have a guy for auto work, but he turned out to be unreliable and increasingly sloppy and even shady. The guy who did my roof could have done a better job. I worry that if I need work on my well that the company that drilled it and replaced parts over the years may not be in business.

IOW, I feel your pain!

Yikes... sorry to hear it over your way also... but yeah, I've been getting a feeling that it's a bit of a widespread epidemic...

Yeah but on the other paw, if someone does want information about sending day-old poultry through the mails, do you want them hanging around you one second longer than absolutely necessary?

I don't know what a "floor furnace" is, but I fully understand the challenge of finding competent repairmen. :P

Lookit those BTUs!

I guess they are still making them, so it might be more common in other areas where you aren't....

Right thar in WalMart (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Floor-Furnace-Size-45-000-Btu-Fuel-Natural-Gas/163274476?wmlspartner=wmtlabs&adid=22222222222048193042&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=s&wl2=c&wl3=10356670213&wl4=pla-4578228992755059&wl5=&wl6=&wl7=&%20wl10=Walmart&wl12=163274476_10000013003&wl14=floor%20furnace&veh=sem&msclkid=1b74dbdc799a1ecdb96d85c02fef39a6)! ^v^

Yeah, I've never seen anything like that in northern latitudes. The closest I ever saw was an electric space heater that can be built into the wall. Seems to me it would be easier to have a central furnace and then vents going to where you need them... but I guess maybe in cases like building on a slab or something like that it might make sense. Ya learn something new every day! :)
