Writer's Block: Bitter aftertaste

This is the first one of these I've done, particularly because this is such an absolute.
I've learned one can't judge people entirely based on the music they like. At first you might think it's applicable, and I even wish it was something that could help with clues about a person, but it rarely does. It's really quite disconnected with the person within.
One grows up in a place and time with the music around them and the music they seek. This becomes etched upon their enjoyments, but as they grow, many more factors usually influence the person that they are. I've known several people who (amazingly) do not like music at all, and are very nice people. And others I know who like very different music from me, are also very nice and interesting people. And I know others who like similar music as I do, but with some I don't get along, and others I do... there doesn't seem to be a defining gauge to judge with, when it comes to music.
It goes without saying... it's definitely a bonus when you click with people who also like a lot of music you also enjoy, but unfortunately I haven't found any guarantees in this area. It *almost* seems that it's more likely folks who like similar "visual art" are more likely to click than people who like similar music, but there are still too many factors there that I am not sure...
So, I try not to judge people based on music :>

Date: 2010-05-28 12:38 pm (UTC)The best way to figure their personality out is...just to talk to them. Have a few conversations and see where it leads. But you've never seemed to have had a problem with that, C...you're one of the friendlier souls out there.
