Usually Macs are safe from software invasions, like the latest rootkit attack by Sony, but apparently not (if you are running system X anyway). :/

I've been reading the various Mac forums on LJ and I've noticed that Mac users have a lot of problems. It's a shame considering I was thinking about getting one but due to the awful high price and the many problems it has I doubt I'll be going that route.

The Mac version is NOT the same 'rootkit' as on the PC. A couple of Sony CDs had some different DRM software that also installed a couple of Mac components. This Mac one is easily detected and deleted, unlike the PC 'rootkit' version.

And remember, there were a couple of viruses on the older Mac OS versions that used the 'Autorun a program from an inserted CD' feature to install themselves. You were supposed to turn that option off....

Funny how it is not illegal to deliberately put very harmful software into people's computer and secretly spying on them. :
