I got to watch the mating dance of the (blue) Scrub Jay just now... :>
It's kind of odd... he sorta walks in circles around her, every so often dragging one wing like some birds do to lure away attackers from their young...
And of course after every few encirclings there's a bit of double-decker coupling :D

Though they don't have anything on chipping sparrows when it comes to the horizontal mambo.

Needless to say, the chipping sparrows are all having a bumper crop around my workplace this year. :>

Really, though, when you consider mating rituals doesn't it just become all the more amazing that any female of any species ever puts up with the male?
