This new logic board might be a lemon. ;P

Date: 2005-06-23 08:58 am (UTC)Oddly 'nuff though, I wasn't using an audio codec before the flipflop and freeze of the circuit... last thing I think might've been Shockwave (for a Flash video). I guess it couldn't hurt to try installing Shockwave again and see if it resets back.
The firmware is the latest available one for this model and system though, yep yep :9
This is strictly a system 9 machine... *wags feathers*
thanks pup..
Date: 2005-06-23 09:01 am (UTC)I've taken some steps... done a backup, took out my RAM and went back to virtual memory (barf!), and also went back to ethernet (vs Airport wi-fi).
I thought it might be an overheating problem developing too, but I left it off two days and so far tonight it's been okay.... albeit slow.
...(except for the audio thing which is still a problem, so that may still be worth getting it serviced again).

Thanks for the kind wishes! *winghug*

Date: 2005-06-23 09:15 am (UTC)I really *was* pondering the other day whether this thing might be a lemon, and worthy of that approach...
It'll be a real drag if this becomes a constant never-fixable problem.. *sigh*..
Ah think I'll take it incrementally ...First I'm going to try re-installing Shockwave (or upgrading it)... and if that doesn't, I've backed it up tonight (with the bare minimum 64m ram that came with it... bleah).. and I'll take it in or call Apple to see if they'll fixit under the warranty (it was just fixed in December). Third item is I may go back to where I bought the RaM (considering it might be a compound issue) and get a replacement, since RAM is usually lifetime warranted.
Thanks fur the comment, whiskery one!

Date: 2005-06-25 07:21 am (UTC)well, they do in many ways... but in others they have added much more in tasks like maintenance and dependence... arf!
