Last year sometime (I think) in the evening out the window I saws what I thought was someone's dropped pager in the yard, since it looked like a glowing bright green LED.
When I approached, it turned out to be a Glow Worm of some kind! 8>
I brought it in the house for a closer look in the light, then the phone rang... when I went back to look, it was gone! *snif*

So the other night I was in the den on the phone just chatting with the lights out, and out from under the couch I see a lil' green glow! So I wonder if this is the offspring of last year's generation :D

In any case, it was cool to see at last... Only about a half inch long, it had a bright green glowing headband, kind of like a necklace glo-ring, and a dim glowing tail too... so after snapping a few shots, I let it go in the yard where I had found the one last year.... hopefully there'll be a lot more next year!

Here's the images.... glowy1 and glowy2.
If any of you have seen these before or have more info on 'em, I'd love to hear it.. They're not quite as charming as fireflies, but it was still fun to see :>

I have seen those! I keep telling Lex about them. If you go on Franklin Canyon's guided night hike, the ranger can show you where they hang out. Go on a moonless night for better viewing.

I've also seen them camping near Mount Palomar in San Diego County.

I'm still skeptical! Personally, I'd be freaked out if I found a glowing worm in my house...creepy! But cool!
