a note for folks using the LJ friends pics collage

Please do put that behind an LJ-cut.. it crashes some browser loads, and in my case it causes an entire system freeze.

but yeah... I'm afraid I wasn't all that able to.
Had no rental car, and one day never even went outside. It below freezing at night, and around 50 degrees high in the daytime. Driving back and forth to the airport was nice though. Much treeees. (even if no flowers this time of year...)

Hopefully, you'll have better luck getting people to listen to that request than I did... I had a guy who would post stuff in odd colors (like dark grey) that rendered as unreadable on my background of ... dark grey. I asked him to stop, and instead I started getting posts with the dark grey text INSIDE GARISH TABLE CELLS that made it look just as bad on my layout. I asked again for less of that, and cuts on huge pictures.

The garish colors continued, and I finally dropped the guy after one huge wide image post too many ... I try to not do more than font size changes, etc., so my posts blend in with others' styles, and I don't post images wider than 600 pixels to avoid page widening.

So again, hopefully, you'll have better luck than I!

There was one person a long time ago who used to post code that would crash my browser, but since I moved to iCab I hadn't had that problem, so I didn't have to excise them from the list :>
This thing is the first to actually freeze my entire system in ages... ...so that's why ah felt it needed a post, since it probably affects others as well.

Turn on image placeholders. That takes care of the pictures because the collage doesn't use width and height attributes.

Boy, do I wish that feature worked better. I'd love to be able to specify "scale all images wider than X pixels to that size". I tried doing that once, and instead of removing all large images, like it was supposed to, it killed ALL of them on the page at that time.

So, seeing as the feature is apparently a joke, off it went.

But yeah, it seems she removed the entry, probably because there were several other comments there too, asking her to put it behind a cut, but she musta just decided to delete it... ah well.
