It FINALLY happened!! 8>
Capitol Records is starting to release the original BEATLES albums on CD !!!! *skreeee flap flap flap*
But no fanfare? I was just wandering around Walmart pickin' up cat food, and decided to peek into the stereo section, and There It Was :D ... the first four albums..... with the punchy stereo vinyl mixes we grew up with!! (not the bland, anemic mixes that the (formerly gifted but by now sadly and seemingly senile) George Martin required to be released alllllllll theeeeeeeeze yeeeeeeears....) ;P
...And What a SOUND! "I Saw Her Standing There" never sounded better!! *fluffs and flaps* ....and SO many others... "Hold Me Tight", "All My Loving", "Tell Me Why", and of course... "I Feel Fine" *wags muchly*... of which I've been in pursuit towards a crisp clear copy for years, since, er, *beak blush*... my LP copy is a little overplayed... ^v^
But there it was!! In all its bold and reverb-coated glory... with such mesmerizing power and snap that it practically licks your ears off with captivating splendor! *warble*

For those uv ya that never got to hear Beatles on LP albums (only CDs), consider treating yourself to this nostalgia-fest, and hear the original sound that speaks truly of how the fab four began to enchant our nation.... from right about the time I was born. (I guess I could hear all that great stuff even through the eggshell back then)... :>

*whew!... wingmops brow*..

(sidenote: The other day I noticed a tad much distortion in the left channel, even for John Lennon's guitar ;D ... and suddenly discovered that my tone arm was way outa calibration ;P
Now how could the weights be reading that incorrectly? Physics is physics, right? but it was like 2 grams off...!
Well, I ran my test track disc and got the anti-skate and everything back in order, hopefully in time to keep records from getting any more worn) .. :>

In other nifty news... this is coming to you from my repaired machine...! 8> *wags* I've restored everything, dumped a gig of junk, and it looks like all the apps run!

I'm just floored though, at how good it all seems... *fluffbumps*... it's almost like they really cared whilst fixing my computer... *blinks over n over with awe*...
I mean... the system upgrade they did,... cleaning it all nicely,... and even replacing my ethernet port (which was stripped but did work, precariously),...
And I'm just amazed at how the logic board recall fix really seems to have taken care of many things... not only the screen problem (I'm assuming... a bit early to tell, but the bottom left of my screen no longer is dimmed out), AND... my CD door now pops out right away!! That had *never* worked right since the day I bought it, but I just figured I'd work around it.
And even though I had to pay for it, having the SPACE BAR work again is like night and day when it comes to feeling good about this machine ^v^

The only oddness which I can't figure out, is that they took out my RAM, put it in a bag, and said it was bad. *scritches headfeathers*
Initially I assumed they must be right, so I spent quite a while researching this RAM to get it exchanged, and to be sure I had all the information I needed. Meanwhile, I tried to work on this thing with just virtual memory and 64megs (44 being used by the system, so only about 20 to spare).. No go. Nope. No way ;P
Many progs were fine, though surfing? bleah. Pages that take 3 seconds to load normally were taking like 30 seconds! >:|
That lit my fire 'nuff that I went down to the store and considered getting more RAM right there... but it was like TWICE the price as online.

Then it occurred to me, "Hey. I've *never* had any bad RAM symptoms or problems. Why not just put it back in?" :9
So after getting the jewelers screws out (that tech practically *welded* them in there, heaven knows why...) I donned my static-free stuff and popped it back in there, and yeeeeeehey!!... good as new :>

I wish I knew why they thought the RAM was bad... or maybe it was just a fluke in their tests. I guess that'll just have to remain one of life's great mysteries :>
*hugs machine, so glad to have it back and runnin' peachy, at last* ^v^
I may even get a new battery. *heh*.. I'm still a tad apprehensive about closing the lid, since I don't want to wear it out... but mebbe I'll get over it... :>

Finally... the other news is that for TWO days we waited for Mike Diamond/George Brazil plumbers to show up and fix a faucet. :P
We've had some slow fixtures for the last few years, which we originally thought might have been due to roots... but after I repaired a few fixtures with success, it began to look like the slow water flow was isolated to each fixture.
...I started this new one (the shower and tub) but when I got into it, this particular operation wasn't very cooperative :|
Too much calcium buildup and not having the heavy pipe-pulling tools for this one... we decided to just call in the big guns.

But they didn't show up the ENTIRE first day. And STILL came late the next day. Do they think other people don't have to work?? (to pay plumbing bills for instance...) ..oy!
Anyways, it finally got done... a shower with hot water again, and, I can also enjoy the (separate) bathtub too after all these years! *warble* I've missed that option, from the days when I had my own place.

So that's about it, friends :>
About 125 emails and 200 LJs to go through, but ahm gittin' there.. *heh*

Take Care!
