another bad exec decision?

Many of ya know that a few years ago, Red Robin restaurants pulled WAY back on their mascot exposure, hardly featured at all any more in their restaurant presence.... which seems strange to me when it's the very name of the restaurant and had a very strong identity connection there.

Now, is a kangaroo axed? :| Dunkaroos Snacks have completely eradicated their kangaroo mascot (as far as I can tell) from packaging... could this be a coming death knell for the product? I dunno... it sure ain't the same for me without the roo identity there...

https://www.mashed.com/153297/the-real-reason-why-dunkaroos-disappeared/ has a take on it that boils down to organizations cracking down on advertisements to market unhealthy things to kids, mildly similar to the Joe Camel thing, I suppose - which is ironic because I never even figured Joe was targeting kids. All those kids who own Harleys and enjoy pool, I suppose? But anyway it does sound like a viable excuse.

Maybe the execs figure the mascot is for kids and the kids don't carry the pocketbook... sheeesh....
