one of those unreals
Mar. 5th, 2021 07:18 pmThis is one of those double-take kind of things for me.... Doing a lot of work around the house, I've eventually stumbled on THIS stuff. And a good thing I did.
Most other spackling is either tooooo runny, dripping off the putty knife all over things or just oozing down the wall... or, they are tooooo 'light', hardly sticking to the putty knife at all before you can apply it to the wall.
But this Westpac stuff is.. well, it's PERFECT. Kind of like cake frosting... holds its shape and sticks to the putty knife long enough to use, and doesn't leak all over the walls or drop frequently all over the floor, etc.
The WEIRD thing though, is that's it's made in So Cal and is only available in Orange County!! Home Depot carries it, luckily, but for who knows what reason, they don't distribute beyond the county, so I have to go over there whenever I need it.
Stuff THIS GOOD (in my opinion) should be available worldwide, but maybe their manufacturing and/or distributing just can't handle higher capacity.

Date: 2021-03-11 06:59 am (UTC)Plenty of DAP available everywhere here... it's what I use most of the time (until I discovered the WestPac) ... And it works 'alright' most of the time.... but it is a bit runny, and if it is stored a while it gets eeeeeven runnier, and sometimes even mildewy... ;P
I've had to toss out quite a bit of it, so I'm happy to find this WestPac stuff.
There's also the 'lightweight' stuff now, which is like trying to apply feathers to your wall. If you can get it to stick, it actually works well!... just quite hard to get it to stick to the putty knife.
