Ever had flats on BOTH your cars at the same time? I have. :D
Yep, most of you know I have a spare car, and this is usually very handy when one is in the shop. Once in a while they are both sick though... that's the case this week. Not the flat tires this time, but both have an issue under the hood. Luckily they were driveable to the shop and didn't have to be towed.

So here's a fun thing we haven't done in a while!... A Poll :>

What do you do when your main transportation is down? Please also tell us what you use if not a car. Also, select as many choices as would apply, like if you try multiple ways to get where you are going, like shopping or work. For instance, if I can't get a lift from a friend, I will sometimes take the bus.

note: I did take a Lyft just *one* time, to get home while the car was in the shop, because there was a special program in our city wherein you could ride anywhere within city limits for a dollar. Plus, you didn't have to use a cel phone app either... you just dialed them from any phone, and they'd add the $1 charge to the utility bill.

[Poll #2105108]

Here's wishing you good transportation! I'd fly you to your destination any time I could!

I've been commuting by subway for over 20 years now.

Very Cool! :}
Also... wondering what you tend to use as transportation for grocery shopping, doctor visits, and non-work tasks.

Fortunately, at least either Al's or my car is working at a time, so we do share.

Oh come now... no "bike" option? ;)

Fortunately I'm in a situation where I can fairly easily (~1 mile) walk to 3-5 possible car repair places depending how you count, and even before "all this" my workplace was okay with working from home in a limited capacity. I can also walk to most "necessities" so it's unusual that I am ever REALLY stuck. In the wintertime, walking is pretty much the only other option besides a car, anyway... usually more like "hiking" because the municipal sidewalks are practically never plowed (in fact, they're frequently covered up by plowing from driveways and/or the main streets).

Technically there's a bus route nearby but the bus service around here is horrible, and everybody knows it, so the bus here is really only populated by people who can't afford anything except the last-ditch possibility; one that will get you to any of relatively few locations, "eventually." But to be fair, I can walk to the bus stop as well.

I used to have at least one reliable all-weather backup car (the purpose served by my truck/van) but right now I'm kind of "between vehicles" in that regard, due to the astronomical cost of used cargo vehicles lately. :|

Zoinks!
Well.. I guess that'd fall under "other" in this case :D

And yep, I did use a bike once in a while when my car was at the shop, when I was at my previous location. I haven't worked out how to do that from my newer domicile, so I guess it wasn't expressly on my mind... sorry 'bout that!

Also, since the poll system adds 5 blocks at a time, if I had added bike I suppose I would have been compelled to add 4 more specifics, which is probably why I went with Other at that point.

Sounds very similar, my friend ^v^ ... The folks were the main helpers for me too when wheels were in need, back when they were around. I have them to thank for the spare I do have around now.
