Outlook... sooooo close....
Jul. 25th, 2020 01:53 amToday I worked with a very recent version of MSoft's Outlook. I will say that the overall "Office" program is quite good now, and the setup went more easily than I've seen in years!
However, it still has some quirks they've overlooked... ;P
Microsoft are you listening?
As some of you may have done, you you know that importing a .CSV file generally means lining up the column maps from the source to the destination. So why did it take so long to import the Contacts?
Well, Outlook "says" that the column for Email is Email, but after you poke around a bit, you will discover that what they REALLY mean is E-Mail, and without the dash, the whole thing goes kablooie and you get an incomplete import. Oh by the way, where do you find Import? Why, under the Export button of course!
Soooooooo... there's still some eye-rolling face-palming idiocies they need to refine before it's smoother sailing.

Date: 2020-07-25 09:28 pm (UTC)I wonder if that's just the way with a lot of webmail systems... That happens to me with GMail too... though it's very consistent... some pop up when needed and others don't, ... it's as if perhaps there is some listing-block setting where some specific names are never suggested, even though I write to both the suggested ones and non-suggested ones regularly.
With those not suggested instead of searching keywords, I tend to search through my index of emails to find a previous one sent or received, and copy/paste their email into the new one. Frustrating indeedy!

As noted though, they obviously really spent a lot of time getting some of the setup fixed... I used to always have to spend a lot of time and effort getting the specific servers and ports and username formats PRECISE before things would work correctly, but they ave Vastly increased their database of presets and/or dynamic searches for that information. Probably saved nearly an hour of setup time (for all the email accounts needed in the last job).
Then again, ya lose that saved time with having to edit CSV files... so yeah... once they spend some time refining that, it'll be closer to much better productivity. :}
