Well I thought I'd better revise my article, because some people I care about might be getting the wrong idea. So here's the update:

We're seeing an almost unprecedented situation, enabled mostly by the modern technologies of cel phones and social media.

So I just want to point out a few things, communicatively, since this is my specialty and major course of studies from nine years of college no one cares about that, just move along eagle...

Covid19 has brought us all, a huge unknown. So it's best to just present some facts and hope they are taken without any inferences.

It is Good to work on containing something that doesn't have an established vaccination yet. Therefore some level of quarantine management is warranted.

It is Good to give delegation of some authority, when that authority works in all areas to ensure rational and fair approaches.

Some sacrifice is warranted.

Many doctors are stating that all this is merely slowing the inevitable. And of course it is good to slow the progress of bad things. Stay safe until the vaccine comes.

References for the first two images are in the image, reference for the third image is Wikipedia

Even the annual flu vaccine is not 100% effective (30 to 60 % usually). But other vaccines are very effective (like the shingles and polio ones for instance). Let's hope the eventual Covid19 one will be, too.

Be careful and utilize social distancing. Wash and keep sanitary for yourself and the consideration of others.

...but please don't panic.

This post ("Simple") was a MUCH BETTER "revised article" compared to your "pros / cons" posting dated Tuesday 17 March 2020 20:56, as well as your attempted clarification of it in your posting "succinct addition" dated the next day (Wednesday 18 March 2020 18:19), as I was one of those "people" who got "the wrong idea" from both of these postings.

I must say I read some statements in your two previous postings that I simply have not observed nor heard/read since the outbreak of COVID-19. In addition, I disagree that "pros / cons" " . . . was written just to highlight a) Clarity/Calm vs Panic, and b) Education vs Assumption". In the future it would be advisable to separate science from opinion, as the two have no purpose being together in a serious "article".

Concerning science, I do not and will not tolerate the use of what I have come to call "Menu Science" - the picking and choosing of scientific facts or principles to suit one's personal ideas/ideals/opinions or the discounting of generally agreed upon scientific evidence and knowledge because one does not wish to accept them. As a scientist of our natural world I have even observed this behavior among (mainly younger) fellow scientists and it is most disturbing to me. Even if you or anyone has not been educated or trained in the sciences, I would implore you/them to not fall into the dark pit of practicing "Menu Science".

As far as your wish for us to "question authority", I would submit that you have little to worry, as I have personally observed the young/younger (Generations Y/Z) to young adult (Generation X) generations doing exactly that long before this disease was released in November 2019 and up to this very moment.

Thanks, buddy

I think maybe I just can't communicate anymore.

But I do appreciate your courteous and careful commentary.

You did nothing wrong, bud.

COVID 19 is uncharted water for all of us.

Thanks for the reassurance ^v^

Still, if anything, I learned that I was not clear enough... too many points, ..and instead of it being taken as a general comment to muse about, some people may have felt affected personally, and it was never intended as such at all.

LJ has always been a place just to ponder about things in general, but we do use it sometimes to talk about more specifics and personal things once in a while, and I think it may have been misinterpreted as that, for which I apologize.

Scruff E helped illuminate that for me, and I hope all will eventually realize it was not directed at anyone here... just general concern for society & such & such.

You're very much welcome, pal.

You " . . . can't communicate anymore."? Let's not have any of that. I've personally heard you articulate your thoughts very clearly many a time.

There definitely weren't any hard feelings taken originally nor given in my response, so thank you too!
