I recently picked up this amaaazing heater on eBay ... and it is Awesome!



I think it is circa 1930s or 1940s ... Previously I was using some more recent one with a fan in it that blows the hot air out, and draws 1,300 watts.. yikes... So with all that blowing it was counteracting the warmth... plus this recent one only draws a consistent 330 watts! Keeps the legfeathers and talons from getting too cold... love this spiffy heater!

WOW, this old skool electric heater does indeed appear to be an amazingly awesome find! I've seen those modern parabolic dish radiant heaters in stores for a number of years now, but they're usually rated at 1000 watts. I'm impressed that ya found one with such a low power drain. By the way, if the electrical cord is bad and needs replacing, you can find new retro cloth cords in many electrical departments of hardware stores.

Ya know, I too have recently found two spiffy heaters. Last year I stumbled across a small 200 watt heater called the Lasko #100 MyHeat personal ceramic heater that I could only find on Amazon. They were priced really low so I purchased two - one for a bathroom and the other for under my computer desk. They do use a quiet low speed fan but don't have a thermostat or timer, so it's perfect for right at yer legs or body when yer at a desk or small room. The other heater I've seen this winter advertised on TV quite a bit and in many stores is the even smaller 350 watt Handy Heater plug-in personal heater. This model has two fan speeds, a thermostat, a timer, and is cordless as it plugs directly into a wall socket. This one I think would be really perfect for a bathroom as it would be off of the floor.

I think in yer case and definitely in mine, we both are saving quite a bit in gas bills by only heating the rooms that we're using at that moment we're there with low wattage electric heaters!

I have one of those MyHeat Lasko things under my desk at work, although I rarely have to use it.

Indeedy, the power rating on the parabolic was a surprise blessing!... I was sorta expecting twice that. We also have an oooooold parabolic that stands about 5 feet high in a bathroom (it belonged to my mom) and it draws right around 400w. This little 330w one gets me so warm I keep having to move it further away from my talons :D .. have only used it about 3 times so far... power cord is in great shape too yep!

Good to hear of another person being careful with bills, yep.... all around the house and with most o' my stuff, I've found that a little TLC goes a long way... with making things last, and with keeping bills reasonable.The gas and electric are usually between $20 and $40 each / mo.
