I hopped on Amazon to pick up a new Thomas Guide, because it really has been about a decade or more since I've gotten one. Having a GPS is the modern/current way of mapping around, but it does significantly lack the "overview" you get with looking at a full map as you can on Google or MapQuest, and having a Thomas Guide in the car can be much more convenient than a computer.

However, reading thru the reviews they seem rather overwhelmingly conclusive to me that 2009 was the beginning of BAD Thomas Guide quality ;P

So I went ahead and ordered a 2008 Thomas Guide. I hope it'll be good!

Ohhh that must be like our UBD street refidex, I still have one in the car as it's much easier to get a broader bearing sometimes.
And it doesn't need batteries :)

I'm a fan of maps on the iPad. ^_^ Nice large screen, with all the usual options of online and offline maps, depending on what you're wanting of the information, and where you'll be going. (Reminds me, I need to see if the App Store can sort out the problem I'm having with Ordnance Survey's MapFinder app - for some odd reason, when I migrated everything to the iPad Air a while back, it lost three of the local 1:25000 map tiles I'd bought. It uses the normal "get the information from the App Store, restore all purchases" scheme, so OS think the problem's on Apple's side rather than theirs, which seems reasonable)
