Hi all ^V^

Years ago I had a MetroPCS $33/mo plan with unlimited talk&text (no internet) and the phone was pretty good.

Then VirginMobile (Sprint) had an offer for a $35/mo plan with 300 minutes and unlimited text/web and a horrible phone.

So here's some other options I'm considering:

A $25/mo AT&T phone with 250 minutes and 1,000 texts and 2.5g of internet and a good phone.

A $25/mo Verizon phone with unlimited talk&text (no internet) and a good phone.

---

It's kinda a tuff decision... :P ... I like the plan I'm on (have gotten used to a little phone-internet access once in a while), but the phone itself (a Kyocera Rise) is absolutely dreadful.

I like the idea of going back to $25, but can I do without the internet (with the verizon one) or are those too few minutes (on the att one) ... arrrgh....

..or I can stay with my current one and just keep seeing if I can get a better phone with it...

Also considering changing my number too since I get some telemarketer calls now, and that's like Me paying them to to call me, when using a minutes-based plan ;P

#1stworlddecisions...

Let us know what you find out. ^_^ I'll be wanting to research SIM-only plans, probably just plain PAYG or rolling monthly contract rather than a year or such commitment, for both the iPhone (very light usage, not much data) and iPad (can live within 1GB/mo, more is good).

I wonder if Sprint still have my Pioneer plan on file.. =:D Not that it'd be much use these days, I suppose - the tariffs weren't anything remarkable by current standards, but back then, the concept was quite forward-looking.

You got it, bunneh!

Azza matter of fact, in an unexpected twist, I logged into my current thing (with VirginMobile) and it turns out they now have a 'variation' on my plan (perhaps in response to the recent competition?) ... where before it was unlimited text/web and only 300 minutes, for the same price they offer a tweak in my plan changing it to unlimited talk/text and ratchet the internet down instead... which works MUCH better for me.. *tailwags*
I checked and my net usage was less than 8mb, whereas in recent months I have gotten perilously close to the 300 minute limit of talk... so this gives me new latitude where I need it :>

So the upshot is.. I guess I'll stay with this plan for a lil' bit longer.... now that the plan itself is much better for me... though the bother of the icky phone and some telemarketer calls does remain... at least those calls won't get charged to my minutes. And I've been looking at other phones.... but *sigh* ... I'm a bit sad that slider phones aren't as promoted right now... they are so much nicer for texting imho, ... but maybe I'll consider other options... maybe....

Good luck with your Pioneer!

I never use any significant fraction of my minutes, so I'd go for the one with Internet vs minutes.
Does Verizon offer something slightly better for a bit more money?

Afraid I haven't got any good ideas. I have a prepaid cell phone, with a $2 charge each day I use it, although unlimited use once that day begins. And that works very nicely for me. But it's an older phone without much real Internet access, and I'd really, really like the equivalent service for a smart phone. If there is one, I haven't found it.
