Had a nice turn of events with a computer.. and old G4 mac I have had petered out, and mysteriously wouldn't show any signs of life at all. Another friend looked at it and couldn't figure it out either. So I took the HD and and backed it up, and my curiosity led me to keep digging. In a super strange twist, I discovered that it's a battery issue. I've seen some computers with 2 batteries in them, and some computers that won't start up when their batteries are dead EVEN if they are plugged into the wall (DUMB design)... but it turns out this laptop has FIVE batteries!! *boggle*
I can't even find any new ones online so far, but after sorting thru several several more forums, they suggested that it might startup if I disconnected all batteries.. and voila! (thank goodness).. it did ^v^
I'm still a bit peeved with the computer, so I dunno if I'm gonna rely on it anymore though... but it's good to know it can work again if needed
Then, in another odd twist, I went out to grab some dinner and mail some bills, and within a block of the house I was pulled over at gunpoint by three police! That was a first! They didn't use the siren so I didn't notice them right away though...
"Keep your hands where we can see them"
- "ok"
"Step out of the car"
- "ok"
"Why were you coming out of that alley?"
- "That's my driveway"
"Why were you driving slow?"
- "I thought I dropped my letters on the floor"
"Where do you live?"
- "just a block away, back there" (points)
"Do you know what the red and blue lights mean?"
- "Yes" (but there was no siren so I didn't know they were meant for me at first)
"We had a report of gunshots, did you hear any?
- "no"
(to the others) "I don't see any (guns) in there (the car).. ok"
It was a bit surreal, so I might have missed some words... but I don't remember them saying 'sorry you can go" ..they just got back into their cruiser and rolled off (supposedly to make up for time stopping the wrong guy).
I did find my letters misplaced in the car though.. yay.
And I guess karma was making up for that weirdness, because when I got home I found one extra burrito in my take-home dinner ^v^
wow.
