I ordered a glass pyrex double-boiler online so I could make one of my grandmother's special old recipes... the eBay seller packed it well and (luckily) priority mail is automatically insured up to $50.
Even with FRAGILE written all over the package, they still managed to, not just bump it around, but actually Puncture it on several sides, so some sort of spear must have Entered the package, repeatedly, to shatter the bubble-packed glassware.

I think that's all she wrote, as the saying goes.

I am going to ask all future shippers if they would be willing to use other services besides the post office, or, at the very least, insure for higher amounts.

;P

I hear ya!! Arch was helping out Roz Gibson I think with purchasing a mint condition action figure to raise money. I was visiting at the time and collected a kicked in box that looked like a bear used it as a soccer ball and hit the goal post!

The action figure was one of those with a sealed plastic shell in front and cardboard backing. The action figure parts were all over the insides by the time we got the box open!

I asked Arch if he wanted to open a claim, but he made the best of it and set it up. The figure was ok, just no longer mint inside packaging!

I work with ups without too many complaints. Cept one dick signed my last name and left the package in a mail room with a theft history. At least I got my over $1000 laptop safely!

Rule #1: Fragile labels attached to a package tell the postal service that the item is well packed, so they don't have to take any care when handling the package.
