May. 29th, 2013 01:00 amTuesday, bargain movie night again, so I went out to the show... BIG crowd tonight, what with Star Trek, Iron Man, and Fast n Furious all happenin'... plus Epic. So I saw Epic...
Always in a tug of war with trying to be careful about spoilers... review or analyze.. or simply thumbs up or down.. never quite know what y'all want...
How about this.. I'll just put up a rough scale of recent movies, and they have all been pretty good (except for the latest Frankenweenie, which was pretty bland compared to his earlier work)...

It was a good movie, though not in the tip top like How to Train your Dragon and Avengers...
Next ones on my list to see are the latest Star Trek and Iron Man ones..

Still, I suppose directorial swap-outs aren't unheard of there - Brad Bird was brought in to replace Jan Pinkava on Ratatouille. I still enjoy the studio's work, but I'm not overly keen on the direction it's taken lately, wholeheartedly embracing the gravy train of sequels - there are so many wonderful stories to be told, and I'd much sooner see new ones, rather than continuations of familiar characters, however well loved.
Hotel Transylvania I'd like to see sometime - the trailers looked reasonably promising, though I'd be surprised if it wound up feeling as fresh as ParaNorman.
