Just when I'm about reddy to try to move most (if not all) bill pay online (now that postage stamps are almost half a dollar), the sites are changing so that ya have to have newer computers to use them! .. So the savings of a penny for postage (and who knows how much for not sending a physical cheque) would be negated by the costs of keeping the latest computer software and hardware!! ;P

One of my customers even bought a whole new iMac because his bank finally made it so that none of the browsers available for his older system would work... and he still hated the new bank page... so he closed his account there... good going, bank geniuses!

I just spent a half hour having to RE-Register with Newer software and new password and new login and new security questions on the electric company's website, which is All redone now so that it Blows completely with my older system... And... the nitty gritty problem they've had with our system is still there ..since November!
And in postings online I read that they are backed up getting important things done.. like fixing accounts!... Probably because they are wasting their time and resources with unnecessary new websites... which, by the way is riddled with ad-scripts ;P ... eeeeesh!

Thanks a lot, So Cal Edison, for stealing my time, breaking more stuff, and not fixing the right stuff!

rarrgh...

But I also use GHOSTERY in Chrome, and it gives me an upper-right-corner display just reading back to me what it has blocked.

THIS is why I still refuse to this day to do online banking! Nothing beats paying my bills at the teller of my local bank!

Totally... sheeesh!
I'd love to take the plunge to save paper and time... but... I've seen several of my customers get forced into buying new software or entire computers because their bank (or something else they rely on online) changes the rules and their old stuff no longer works well, or at all... ;P

You pay bills at the bank teller? I don't think we have that..... we do have payment centers though!

Sorry, I left out an important word: I meant to say I pay my bills at my local bank's automatic bank teller!

That's really annoying! I should probably get online with all my banking stuff, I guess I'm old fashioned. I come from a family of expert computer fellows... so of course I'm close to computer illiterate. Funny because back in the early 70's all I wanted to do was be a computer programmer! I was really lucky to have 'pong' back then too!

Mom was an early Apple adopter. But despite growing up with them I managed to avoid any know-How! I have a vague memory of meeting a fellow that looked like Steve Jobs at the only store that sold Apple products back then! I was rolling my eyes at him while my Mom patiently answered all his questions! She even dragged me to see the first mouse... at which point I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms annoyed! :D

This year we made a "pilgrimage" to infinity. I was delighted to see that across the street was my Mom's favorite restaurant. I wished she were still alive and could have gone with us! :)

Ok... curious how long you've been into computers? Were you forced by necessity 'kicking and screaming?' Seduced by the video games? Or fascinated because it's your thing? :)

Wild story about your early exposure to computers! Didn't you say you met Bill Gates though? :D ,... and heh, we never had Pong at home here.

As for computin'.. my first exposure was in high school when they taught us how to use 'em and program in BASIC. Had about 5 classes with 'em in college too.... I wouldn't say it was my 'thing' really... didn't get into the geeky clan with D&D and all either... but they were becoming widely used in Publishing, so they became inescapable... heh! ... I originally had set out to get into film/music/writing/editing n such. And some photography ...
Managed to do a bit of that (more and less) along the way though :>
