Now LJ has added "exelator" and meta-redirection scripts, so pages don't load comments at all, until I allow permissions, and, they got their wish to be like google/facebook/twitter/bs in that several elements on the page are now invisible unless you mouse-over them.

That is one of the MOST annoying trends of web pages now... Invisible Elements until moused-over. Great. Just Great. ;/

EDIT:
Noticed a few more things.... when writing a comment larger than the size of the box shown, It Won't Scroll!!! LOL! The text is there, but it doesn't show it ;P

Maybe... heh, probably even... but, for the amount of time that goes into that thing, and the potential disappointment that I've seen in the past, I usually find workarounds to be the most workable solution. Cuz everybody has to be on-board for fixes, and it's clearly already a non-cooperative war from the other side... ;P

To cite an example... I was all stoked when a customer let me use (and eventually keep) a very expensive Sony VAIO with which they were completely frustrated. It's also circa 2005-ish..... turns out what happened is they were on the same train most people are, that upgrading is always a good thing, so someone convinced them to by Windows 7 Ultimate. Yup.. they went for the whole shabang and put it on this VAIO.

Turns out, INTEL is in charge of the software that drives the video in that box, and Intel has refused to write drivers to support Windows 7 for some equipment like this... so, the video performance is erratic. Sometimes movies won't play, and worst of all, mirroring to an external monitor is completely shot. And on this tiny little VAIO, it really would be Very helpful :P

Back to the LJ code.. heh.. I discovered ANOTHER issue while writing you this comment... comments larger than the standard box will not scroll!! hahaha!! Oy!

Anyhow... my solutions to this were 1) use new equipment at one location, and 2) I think I'll try another browser entirely for LJ and Youtube and see if that helps. I don't know if it'll have the Naming system I love in Firefox (the way it saves pages), but I will try...

Software does have the tendency to get slower with age, but if you install the latest Firefox and it's slow you could always go back to what you used to have
Google Chrome is also pretty fast; you could use that one for your LJ and Youtube
