Meanwhile I still sort of get by with reading (as they haven't destroyed the Friends Page aggregating layout yet)... but I've been having to use I.E. just to comment on stuff ;/

It's really strange. I haven't encountered a single change in my views or functionality. Not one. I've heard about all the complaints, but I honestly have no idea what people are experiencing that has them so upset. Maybe it's because I use an old S1 style exclusively? I dunno...

So I noticed the comment section looks different, but I think it works fine? Creating posts still goes the exact same way and my friends' page also looks the same as usual. So what exactly are the issues you're having?

While your solution doesn't work for me, (that's part of the trouble, it works so irregularly and in different ways for different systems!! Train wreck!) ... I decided to try to take LiveJournal off my permitted script list (since their scripts seem to be sloppy and putzy and broken for now) and see what happens.
So far this is the first time I am seeing a different page build in about a week! It's still lousy, but it's different, and much faster (like before) but at least it's worth a try.
If this comment goes through, then I'll know it may work as a stop-gap measure!

Yep, they did say they had it fixed for a few styles, ...apparently mine (and many others) are at the bottom of the barrel on their to-do list... ;/

I was lookin thru that S1 and S2 stuff a moment ago... and I am on S1 also... but you might be in Horizon or Vertigo? I'm in good ole original Dystopia..

It looks like they may have brought S2 aboard to FACILITATE advertising.. ;P

Mine looks like that, too. But I also use an (I believe) S1 style, and have a permament account, AND I use "view in my own stlye" for all Journals I visit. That might be why.

*nods* Yeah, I had to go with that setting a long long time ago, because many styles had microscopic text, or links that blocked other links, etc...

I'm seeing the new design too. FWIW, I noticed that farraptor's comment page appears to be unchanged. At least this entry looks like a classic LJ comment page to me. Since bush_rat reported that comment page layout was affected by the "view in my own style" option (which I haven't activated), my guess is that only some styles/settings have the new comment code.

It would be interesting to know what styles FaR and Bush (the rat, not the chimp ;) are using.
