Okay...

I had my hopes up. A really nice music store executive online said she would listen to some snippets of songs, the names and artists of which I've never been able to find... DJs never answer inquiries, because they are inundated and swamped all the time already I'll bet..
Alas, despite her kindness and nice offer, she could not recognize any of them :/

So I figure, why not.. I've got the music clips uploaded now.. maybe some of you out there might?

Back when I was dating a person who was going to University of Hawaii, she would listen to the radio while doing her homework, and if she heard something nice, she would timeshift a snippet of it for me, and if I liked it too, I would go buy it.. if I could figure out what it was.
I've bought dozens of songs I love, but I could never locate these. They are all from the mid 1990s to early 2000s. Have a listen if you like, and thanks in advance if ya can help. Either way, I hope they will spark some enjoyment and inquisitiveness in you too :}

Maybe I am tone deaf? :OP

Here is what I've got out of them for lyrics:

Snip 1:
"Great 'Mah-na-low-ah'
I leave my lonesome world
that grows congested with time
I think I'll step up to your mountain top and stop awhile
to look down on the weather
(woah)

Yes I'll be
('Mah-na-low-ah')
I really can't say how far to go
(way up high ahh-ooo)
I'm walking on clouds and seem to float
('Mah-na-low-ah')
I follow the sun to find my way
(way up high ahh-ooo)
Oh you can have a time of day
I've found..."

Snip 2: "The woo-woo song"
"...and all I want's the simple things in life
just you and me happily
makes me feel all right
you know I love
you you know I neeeed you
and you'll always be
a part of me, can't you see-e-e.."

Snip 4:
"...again,
country fire burning so bright
I wonder if my country woman
is lonely tonight?"

Snip 6:
"...time we could share
it's the end of the road
for me and you
so take a bow.
I'll remember you
till the end of my life.

(till the end of my life x3)"

Snip 7: (static!)
I'll be back judge?
and live with their jokes
the day (something) is fine
(mmm...yeah)

*feathery tail wags!!*

oooo!... I dig your transcriptions, puppy pal!... And the one of #7 is a hoot!! *leans fluffily on to your shoulder and guffaws widja!* ^V^

Here's a comparative recaps for ya, since you went to all this trouble.. (and I rilly appreciate the interest!) .. *le cheeeeerp...*.....

1. Yaw... I think you got that one pretty-much verbatim... My guess is that it's called "Mauna Loa"

2. Right on the money also... :> From phrasing earlier in the song, I think it might be called "Oooh, Please Me" ... but then again, sometimes songs have titles that don't appear anywhere in the song, like "Rainy Day Women #12 and #35" ... :D

3. Just recapping that one for reference:
When you would take my heart and drop it on the ground
Why You... (Why you wanna break my heart)
Why You... (You had me from the start)
Why You wanna break my heart and leave me on my own..?

The Fiji version is nice!... They say it's called "Why You" .. I still like this female vocal soft version too, so I'll keep hunting for that as well... EDIT: FOUND IT!!! *wags* It's by "Na Waiho'olu'u O Ke Anuenue" ... :D

4. You translated that one right-on also... (you are knot tome deef!)
I think it may be called "Country Fire" or "My Country Fire"

5. As noted in comments, [livejournal.com profile] xianjaguar helped me nab that one (wheeee!) ... Oddly enough, I haven't found where I can listen to, and if I like it, buy the Jennifer Warnes version.. it seems to be an import record, so I might take a chance on it eventually..

6. hehe! This is one of those guilty pleasure songs, where the lyrics are sorta nutty, but the vocal display and music and everything are so infectious I just can't help but be enchanted by it ^V^
The only translation difference is I think she says is "for me and you to say goodbye... but you might also be right! it does sound kinda muted there, now that I hear with your take on it... :}

7. *waggle*
With this one, the music exec I was talking about earlier seems to think she knows what it is, either "Bottles and Cans" or "The Makawao Dump", but she seems to be pretty certain it's by Jon Osorio and Randy Borden, ...just that it never was yet released on CD.. and she says it's still only on vinyl, and of course discontinued, and over 20 years old.

and hehe!.. yout transcription cracked me up! *hug* ^V^
I think it goes like this, but yer right.. I can hardly understand nearly half of the song too!...
Humpty-back jugs,
I never said jugs,
Today the Makawao Dump is fine

It's a sweet little song about a guy who is kinda like a Salvation Army attendant, sitting on the corner and collecting peoples' discards for the Makawao Dump and Recycling Center. Kind of an unexpected tale, ..but cute arrangement huh? :}

Thanks Again for being sucha help, to you pup.. and all of the commenters! ^V^ This is really making my week! :D
