I previously posted about the intriguing Phoenix Electric Cars being built just a few miles away from me, and another fine feathery just mentioned that there are even more affordable electric vehicle choices at This Site ...thanks kreggan!!... and I also found an additional and very sleek option at This Link ... Could be the start of a very good trend.. no more being limited to just leases... perhaps reg'lar folk can actually OWN an electric vehicle.. this very year! ^v^

I'm holding on for an affordable electric (or hydrogen) minivan - one where I can lay the seats down and haul a bunch of 6x2 show panels and totes to the next venue, a state or two away...

Considering they're importing cheap bodyshells from Korea, I'm unimpressed.

The $30-40k premium over my car will still buy you a great deal of gas indeed. :>

I'm sure it's easy to OWN one, but doing much driving is another story. We'd all need more than a bit of an electrical upgrading to support those 250kW chargers. Where's Mr.Fusion when we need it? ;)

There's a local place here that sells a three-wheeled electric vehicle:

It's street legal (as a motorcycle), and goes 50 mph for up to 45 miles -- reasonable for a city vehicle. The problem is, it costs $15,000, which makes it more expensive than a lot of more capable vehicles. Given that you'd need a second car for long trips, it would take a lot of driving to justify that kind of money. Also, I've been in one, and the build quality is pretty lousy. It looks like someone assembled it in his garage. That would be forgivable in a vehicle that cost $5,000, but for $15,000 I sort of expect more.
