Yeah, whenever I had a scrape mom got out the Bactine, in the good old fashioned Ozone-destroying aerosol can! Ah, memories. Painful, stinging memories :)

My mom always used a Jafra product called "Royal Jelly," which is derived from the bee product of the same name.

I saw it in a Target in Lawrenceville, GA. Since Mr Holbrook references it occasionally in Kevin and Kell, I almost bought some....(grin)..

It may be here in California, but I've not seen it...

My mother used Pine Sol - on HERSELF - when she got her finger smashed by the "butt bar" in a calf chute, when one 300-lb. calf decided he didn't want to go any further. "Popped grape" is the best description I can think of, but she said the Pine Sol immediately numbed it. They used Pine Sol for disinfection/pain treatment on the calves when working them.

I wouldn't try it. O_o

My Grandmother had a remedy for us kids when we got bit by an ant or stung by a bee. Mud. Just simple mud. Stir water into dirt and slap that on the spot. It cooled the sting/bite and seemed to draw the venom out rather quickly as it dried.

Now that we're older and know what sorts of things live in dirt... well, yikes!

I once had some kind of subcutaneous infection on my knee, and my Mom used something called sapping salve to 'draw the pus out'. It was black and sticky, apparently derived from coal tar. I've forgotten the full name of the stuff, though.
