ceagleLooks like I'm gonna be on dial-up for a few days... net went down yesterday, and they ain't comin' to fix it til Monday. In fact, this is the first time I'm using the internet at work in about ten years, when it was still 33.6 modems.. LOL
Last time I tried LJ with dial-up it barely worked.. maybe I will switch to Lynx view if I can for this week.

I think my ISP sorta lies...
The service has been a bit odd since it got bought out, but it's the lowest priced broadband in our area. I think they just fib/fibbed when they said everything looked fine, when I had every indication (from past experience) that there was some local problem. Last night the service got weird weird weird, with intermittent blackouts and strange page builds. I even tried a different computer and it was the same... so, I went to bed... and then the modem looked the same this morning, so after trying a few resets, I called 'em. They set an appointment for a few days away... ;P
So I checked LJ and webmail after work from work, and then Lo and Behold... when I got home, the MODEM LOOKED FINE.. 8|
*rolls eyes* So if it holds up for a couple days, I may cancel the appointment... because this idiotic new company charges if they come to the house and find no problem.
Quite a racket, huh? Mess around with the customer's internet enough to get 'em to call for an appointment, then make it all pretty for when the tech gets there, so they make some dirty money...
Not sayin' it's reeeelly that way, but.... seeeeems kinda fisssssshhhhhhy....

Date: 2007-12-14 08:12 am (UTC)that's why I have business DSL here....and a long list of phone numbers to get things fixed. It isn't cheap but when things go haywire, well worth it!
(then there's the two wifi accounts and my Verizon Wireless card)...
