Me bruddah has a cat who used to be a lovey-bouncy kitten.. but over the last few years has been quite the recluse, hiding nearly all the time and just coming out for food... then hustling back into the shadows.

Recently, he pulled out all the carpet and they stained their concrete into a stylish, clear-sealed flat floor... easy to clean, and no more carpet.
Now this cat has suddenly (after like over 5 years of being a hermit) become extremely sociable and loving again... *boggle*

Did Sigmund Freud ever encounter such a cat case? :D

Here's my theory:
Cats and "change" don't normally get along well.
Often change will freak a cat out into being something entirely different.

For example: My ex's family had a demon-cat named Toter.
Toter was the meanest cat you'd ever seen, hiding under the furniture all day long, and hissing and swiping at people with her claws if they dared come even a tiny bit close. This even applied to my ex's parents, who hand-raised Toter from a kitten (she was a Feral kitten when they found her).

Well, my ex's parents moved one day to another house...and guess who became loving, needy and wanted to sit in everyone's laps? Yep. Toter. My ex said it was one of the few times anyone was ever able to pet Toter, who had taken to following at everyone's heels and demanding to be petted and loved on. All because of change in her life.

Wow.. reassuring to hear similar stories... I guess it's a change for the better in both cases! *hugs*
