... I was going through some older entries last night and was musing over THIS one... puzzling the curious statistic that noone who answered the poll had ever heard "I've Told Ev'ry Little Star" or "Whispering Bells" ...

I wonder of anyone has heard 'em by now a year later ? ... :}

"Whisperin' Bells, loud and clear. Whisperin' Bells, love to hear! Bring my baby, bring my baby back to me"..........etc.

I've heard "Every little star" as well, but can't remember any of the lyrics at the mo'.

Must've missed that post.

Well, I know "Whispering Bells" by the Del Vikings, to be sure. But the Mello-Kings didn't ring a bell ;)

*chuckles* No problem. I just assumed that they did one as well. Although as much as I enjoy many tunes from that era, the Mello-Kings are still pretty unknown to me. I don't think that I had heard of them prior to your post.

Ah!
They had a big hit which got lotsa airplay out here, called "Tonight, Tonight" ..which should be pretty easy to find on oldies collections or online references.. great song! That b-side "chip chip" is pretty catchy too, but it was probably a throw-away ditty, with laughable lyrics.. but the flip side is an absolute standard :>

Although clearly I know your 'tonight, tonight', but the voice is wrong to me. There is a slight speach impediment to me to the one that you have there. I am thinking I must know a later version by the chevelles or the chiffons or some such. Drawing a blank though. Good tune, nevertheless.
Thanks!

*noddle waggle scritches*... Mighta been the sound equalization in that one, which was a poor quality movie clip. There are other links off that YouTube page which lead to the full original tune and sound much better. *peep*

I never did look up to see if I remembered any of the others. I did check iTunes today for those two songs so I got an idea of what they were about and no I don’t recall ever hearing those.
