can't post more than a few sentences. was going to update, but can't post. LJ says they are being EXTRA watchful of what gets posted right now, so unless your account is blessed, you are SOL.
Neat. First I've heard to validate what I had once considered (but since discounted). Up until now all the excuses have been DOS attacks that were said to be happening by multiple people. Where's your point of reference on the 'big brother is watching' thoughts? -Canis
*peeps and hugs* Just for historical value now, and maybe portents of the future...
1) the sheer inability to post more than a few sentences was one symptom, or post comments, or anything with a link or formatted text in it.
2) I posted two help requests, and they indicated that many accounts would be unable to post for a while, for the greater good, so a kind of blanket censoring outage, so they could have a huge range they wouldn't have to worry about until after they plugged the other holes.
3) the 'blessed' account theory also came from the near millisecond instantaneity I was able to post a comment in an administrator's blog here, while asking WTF was going on.
so it wasn't so much big brother was watching, as big brother just shut the doors on a huge range of accounts, avoiding any hypothetical new holes, while they were on the trail of other known holes, until solved.
Yeah, this is day 5 for me. It's insane, and a pain in the ass (see LJ?? I can't even use the term 'butt' because it's not that nice a pain!). Yeah, definitely a pain in the ass.
hehheh.. *slurrrp* ... wasn't really a ban, was just lynch mob simplistic gut management without a lot of thinking, but I guess that happens sometimes in emergencies... hopefully they'll be smarter and have PLANNING in place for the future...
*hugs* :< They are just blanket-inhibiting a lot of accounts, but if you comment on a blessed account (like an employee here) it goes thru instantaneously. ;P They just haven't gotten around to whether I'm approved or not yet. Could take a while, at a few million users. feh.
What sort of error are you getting when you try to post long entries? This sounds like a server attack of some sort that is comepletely unrelated to the "censoring" issue, which is almost resolved. :)
hehheh.. it wasn't giving errors every time... just not posting at all..(endless spinning ball or hourglass)... once in a while there was an error... but hey, it's awwwww better now..! *hug*
It might be the cluster you're on. I can post without issues *knock on wood*
If you want to be sure you are safe from censorship, friend-only the journal. A friend of mine tried to report abuse, but the LJ team couldn't read the locked entry.
peep! it's awwwww fixed now... :> I guess on one hand some place in Russia was bombing LJ servers... and on the other hand, LJ had made a MAJOR faux pas by censoring hundreds of pages just because the interests looked suspicious... that pis't a lotta people off, and LJ was apologizing for many many days.....
