May. 23rd, 2006 11:49 pm...and allergies! *sneeezles*
Seriously, thanks all of you for the wonderful, empathetic and uplifting replies ^V^
I plan to go through and comment as much as possible, but all this might still take some time before I can really sink my teeth, er, beak into it.. *sigh*
oh.. and I was hoping it would be all good, but there's just a hint more that happened...
While I was out today, it appears kitty had his first ever diabetic seizure, though we didn't know at the moment he was found, and we thought he might be dying. Might very well have I guess... I didn't know quite what to make of it, for when I saw him he was pretty stiff.. frozen with his head straight up, mouth open, all four legs stretched out.. I thought maybe he had broken his neck in a fall and was paralyzed :|
We rushed him down to the hospital (those people are sooo good.. faster than human emergency rooms, that's for sure).. his body temperature was down to 92, and his glucose was undetectable. Apparently he hasn't been eating normally the last few days (he's had diabetes for around 5 years now), and got hypoglycemic. -_-
So they gaev him glucose, heat, saline and oxygen. She said if he didn't seem like he was turning around, she'd send him to a 24-hour unit, but by the time we left, they had gotten his temp up to 94 and broken the paralysis from the seizure shock. they let us look at him, and his eyes were blinking, like he was trying to recuperate from all that exertion and trauma. *ulps* Odd that the body would demand all that from muscles, when the glucose supply is low.. :/
So hopefully he'll be recovering, but it was a pretty disturbing afternoon. *sigh*
At least I didn't get a sinus headache from allergy congestion like last night... ;P
nuff woe... hopefully things will be turning back to better tomorrow. The day was certainly beautiful weatherwise...
