If you're under 30, you may not really care about this shtuff (but if ya do, *wingthumbs up!* ) ... ;>

Salt

They say we get too much salt in our diets, but it might not be from an obvious place... with me it was... Breakfast Cereal!
You might wanna have a peek, and if yours has more than 200mg per serving, it might be too much!

Caffeine

Oddly enough, reports recently are saying that it may actually be good in some cases with coffee, but not with soda! *wha?*

Sound

Recently inspired by the wordsmithworthy [livejournal.com profile] kaysho, I got bit by the bug to know what is happening in the audio spectrum around me.... sooooo.... I got a sound level meter, and *boggle*... I am amaaaaaazed at the extreeeeemes we're exposed to!
Just on the freeway, the car is around 95db!! ,...and with a window open it goes up to 105!
Federal standards say it's dangerous to hear that level for more than an hour... eeesh! No wonder lots of us go deeeef by our later years...

Anyways, be careful out there!

Good thing I stopped having breakfast cereal over a year ago, although I don't think what I'm having now (pork buns from the Chinese supermarket) is much better.

...oh!... but I do love breakfast cereal. It's a great quick way to start the day.. it's just that now (if I wanna stay low sodium and fortified), the two main choices are frosted shredded wheats and frosted wheast puffs (Dig 'Em or Sugar Bear) .. :>

I may have to pass on the sugar frosted pork buns... :D

Well you know everything is bad for you actually ;) It's just a matter of moderation I think. Just don't worry about it too much cause I hear worrying is bad for you ;)

Well that's true in a sense, buddy... *wingfluffs*
There's different kinds of sugar though... complex and simple and multitudes of starches...
Simple sucroses and fructoses can be absorbed very quickly, and so should be used by very active bodies, while starches like on rice and potatoes and whole grain bread come on a little slower, but still can be high in content and should be used more often than stored. Some nutrient rich starches like yams and sweet potatoes are encouraged more than simple ones, since there is a well-rounded benefit rather than just the simple energy unaccompanied by a balance of helpful vitamins and minerals.

The simpler ones are generally accepted at breakfast times, since we're diving into the day.. *spreads wings and soars upward... whooosh!* :D

Sound is the one that sneaks up on you. My hearing is not nearly as good as it used to be... and I suspect that ambient loud sound levels are the cause.

Either that... or I am in denial of natural aging!

*TB Hugs*

It's amazing yesh... but when you think about it, so much we do in our sights and sounds are not present at all if we were to live a natural existence..

I keep wondering about that sort of thing when I'm driving my truck. Those things are not quiet inside, and being exposed to it for 10 hours a day...

yikes buddy.... :/
I have been thinking about this, and I think there should be allowable hearing protection for highway use.
Not for city driving probably, because of the need to hear emergency vehicles, but that isn't a factor when you are driving 70 mph on a highway, where you cannot realistically hear hazards anyway... those must be detected visually... and thus it should be (and maybe already is, but I don't know CHP laws regarding this), since the facts stand for themselves: some sound levels can't be avoided in most high speed vehicles, and it naturally follows that it's a safety issue that hearing protection should be not only allowed, but provided for just like seat belts.

Sheesh, and I was driving an average of 9 hours a day for 5 days to get to FC, and then for 6 days to get back =P
Luckyly my car is kinda quiet (at least compared to others)

By the way, thanks for adding me, welcome to my LJ '-^oo^-'

That's Wild!

I hope it was a fun adventure along the way :> *wags tail feathers*
MY car is a bit on the older side ( http://c-eagle.livejournal.com/5803.html ) ... 22 years and counting :D ! ...but it may be a little on the louder side. Still, I think most cars and trucks do fall into the more audible category, so I wanted to let folks know (just like with the salt info) that there are some excesses out there for which we can be on the lookout, and thus mebbe help us live more pleasant and unduring lives ^v^ .

and ah yes! I've enjoyed your icons and your comments around LJ land, and after reading the last few in [livejournal.com profile] jedd_marten's and [livejournal.com profile] kaysho's journals, I thought I'd see if could peek and be allowed in (thank you too!)... I hope you enjoy the view over here as well.. :> *rustles wings*

I like old cars, though they're indeed noisier.
I (well, "we") own the car in my icon, a 63 Falcon. It's so interesting to drive ^^

We didn't even have Honda 22 years ago, they just came here in 97, and Toyota in 2003 or 4, the only Japanese cars we had were Nissan, and... well, in my opinion they're the least good of the japanese brands.

the car I drove to FC was a Renault Clio, apparently a lot of people noticed it, maybe you saw it? I was parked by the side entrance to the hotel the whole time, it looks a little something like this:

Except it's silver, not blue.

The first time I noticed you must've been in Kaysho's LJ, the first thing I thought was "That kind of looks like Donald" and I thought that was very cool ^^ (because in my opinion Disney has demoted Donald compared to characters like Mickey, Goofy or even Pluto)

WOW!
I hope you'll always be able to keep up your Falcon as a nice hobby car. My grandmother had a 1960 Ford Galaxie Deluxe... but she sold it.. I sure wish we still had that jewel 8>
