sure is a strange world
Nov. 6th, 2002 04:57 amIBM decides that noone will ever need personal computers, so companies like GnatBug, Tandy and Atari get out there and get the market early.
Mac uses a mousing technology that another company also originated but didn't believe in, and winds up making a pretty cool computer interface, then Windows copies it, then Mac copies them again, then Windows.. etc.
Netscape gets this browsing technology really going, then Windows makes a faster and less crashy thing, then Mozilla works on makin' it better again..
Well.. maybe they have finally done it. I heard good things about Opera, but I didn't want ads and IE was pretty solid for me. But IE (on Mac only) has regular crashes when reloading and posting etc.. so after reading a few LJ recommendations, I finally decided to try the Mozilla thing. Wow. LOTS of features, and though I found about half a dozen bugs, pretty solid so far.. and really good with LJ :>
They've got the caching speed that IE first succeeded at, and smart scrolling, smart saving, and preferences with all the best things of IE and NetScape *both* Someone even realized it might be nice to have an IRC function in the same program! A little late, but sorta cool.
Only one real crash after 10 hours of testing.. so far so good :>
