Comics - Your Best Entertainment Value

I wonder how many of you remember that phrase? :>
Though it wasn't internet-comix they were talking about back then..

About a month ago I got to spend a day visiting my buddy genecatlow just chatting over lunch to get caught up, and then back to his place to relax and read comics, n chat some more :)

What was amazing was that I got to witness his online comic process from start to finish!

I get to work with creative folks a lot from time to time, but rarely does one get to view the entire art process.. usually just parts of it as it progresses.

Talk about value! This cat spent over 8 hours practically non-stop, from sketch, to ink, to scanning, to coloring, to lettering, to uploading and such.. Man! And the world gets to enjoy this for free! *ruffles feathers all up in amazement*

There are definitely gobs and gobs of artists and writers putting in vast amounts of time and effort just to share with the world.. and Gene's Work is a great example, that I actually got to experience.

I've even gotten to experience being *in* the comic :} (Feb 20, 2002 and Oct 19, 2001) ...*warbles and wags tail*

As for being on the inside.. *hehe*.. it's sorta the way things have worked out over these years.. Working with animation and cartoonists and writers and related fields for so long, ..you just learn more and more stuffs and good folks after a while, which helps to get work and projects looking the best they can for everybody.. *beak blushes* Thanks for the nice comments :>

Fortunately, it isn't as much being on the inside, as it is to keep the nicest people connected with the other nicest people and projects as best as I can, which is important.
The unfortunately part is, that with the economy the way it's been the last 4 or 5 years, artistic and writing projects have had to become more often part-time endeavors than they used to be, for both large and small production companies. :/

I am very lucky to know some extraordinary peoples though, corporations aside, and many of the online ones are raht hyar, ..my outstanding LJ friends! ..for which I'm very grateful :>
