Thanks for the post! Yeah, we’re up to $3.47 locally, and I put $55 in the truck today. But… at least it is available.

Your footnote is poignant... I wonder how many would remember when we had to wait in long lines for it, and also when we had to fill up on only odd or even days...

Strangely, the local popular gas station has been at $3.15 for cash/87 for probably 4-5 months now... basically ever since Michigan lifted its stay-home order. In fact I think it even went up a little above that at the time, but settled back down.

Though I dunno, around here we are close to Canada, and I understand they are the world's fourth-largest oil producer.

Honestly I didn't even know the US sourced that much gas from Russia or OPEC anymore, for that reason.

Addendum: I saw a headline in the news that gas prices "skyrocketed to new highs" in Michigan, and that place I mentioned above is now at like 3.20. ;-P So I dunno. Maybe something big-scale is going on but seems that locally someone bought a lot of cheap gas that's about to expire or something.

I finally got out to look closely at my ‘74 Ford bumpers: the owner of my go-to gas station put a small sticker on the truck to show I was a loyal customer and could get around his standard rationing, but the sticker has long since gone away! Crazy, crazy times!
