The drive home reminded me to mention a couple of things...

It was one of those freeway pursuits, swervin' all around me! At first a car dashed right in front of me... I couldn't tell at first because there was no light rack on top, but it was an undercover police vehicle with the blue and red flashing in its back window. I backed off, and saw that they were trying to get a car to pull over... which it did.. and then I saw in my rearview mirror that it took off again!
I watched that unfold for a few miles in the mirror, and then it looked like the runaway led the cops onto surface streets.

But perhaps the weirdest event of the month was during my lunch at work. A couple days ago, I was walking across the parking lot to get to a place to eat, and someone about 50 feet away was yelling and making gestures to me that they wanted heroin. I said I didn't have any and so they veered off, bawling loudly. I felt a bit sad for them.. because I thought it might be genuine sadness.
But it was an act. When I came out of the sandwich place, I had taken a couple bites of it, and then that guy came up to me again from practically out of nowhere, wielding kitchen utensils at me (in particular a large frying pan) and yelled at me face to face from about a yard away, "I'm gonna kill you!" In fact his yelling spit saliva drenched my sandwich.
I'm surprised I didn't panic, but I assessed the moment and deep inside I think I realized he was loaded with drugs and probably didn't have the coordination to kill me, so I backed off quickly and maybe I looked threatening enough, or he saw another easier target, as he started chasing and yelling at other people with the pan and a box of kitchen utensils.
I'd seen him confront at least 3 others by the time the attendant answered my 911 call.

I talked them through the events unfolding, and within a few minutes three police cars had arrived and cuffed the druggie/terrorist.

But I had to toss my sandwich and scrub down my face and wings... so, it was a very weird lunch.

May you live in interesting times.
The saddest part of the stories was that the sandwich was a total loss. That just ain't right! You don't mess with a man's sammich!

Wow man... hopefully that's your quota of crazy for the next few years. o.o

Glad you're okay in both of those situations. These days you never know.

Minds and sandwiches are terrible things to go to waste.
