May. 21st, 2019 11:34 pmI dunno WHAT Google thinks it's doing when it FORCES and SHOVES stuff down yer throat. I had managed to block it messing with my computer for about 2 years, and then a few days ago it shoved several BIG changes into my system, updating its browser to the latest, plus adding its web extensions and not one but at least TWO updating programs... PLUS it added it's Beta Browser "Canary", AND (as usual) more automation tasks to my Task Scheduler ;P I think I'm going to have to stop using it in all modes (open and private) and just use open. For some reason it seems to be more vulnerable to ads in the incognito mode anyway, ironically. Plus with some of the persistent cookies, it's not all that private anyway.
So for private mode I think I'll just start using Brave or Epic all the time and see how that goes.
I used to like Chrome's Canary beta browser... but ultimately it was toeing the line... giving a great performance, only to STEAL it away from some use permanently, irrevocably ;_; ... At work I had a lab computer that had to remain on WinXP for testing purposes, and so suddenly one day, Canary killed itself, and could not be reloaded. Kinda like a restaurant that offers a heavenly item "for a limited time"... only this one is never coming back again (to XP anyway)... so I'm not gonna get sucked into it on my more current systems, if it could vanish at a whim.
And by loading all this $#&*% on my computer a few days ago, Google has proven they are still into forcing their whims....
Grrr.
EDIT: New plan already: it seems GoogleVOICE has blocked some other apps from interfacing completely with it (I do remember this sometimes being a problem when using Administrative functions for Google Apps). AND they have finally elimated the GoogleVoice Legacy option ... (grrrr again) Sooooooo... I s'pose I'll just use their browser but just clear the last hour after using it. *eye roll*
