Jim Henson's death could've been prevented if he'd gotten medical help sooner. At the time he died I read that he had a Christian Scientist upbringing, and due to that delayed going to a doctor until it was too late. If his son was into the same religion, then he would not have gotten any blood pressure or cholesterol medications that might've helped. (Just speculation on my part-- I have no idea if the son was a part of that church)
Oof. I hope he had the foresight to put forward some candidates to take over.. there's bound to be a lot of superbly talented folk in the company, but they'd also ideally need that odd combination of enthusiasm and talent, as well as financial acumen, and an acceptance that there'll be a fair bit of time spent just keeping the business running smoothly.
Of course, the loss will be felt by far the hardest by his daughters and wife. Terrible enough news at any age, but ten and fifteen..
