ceagleheh! Well, I've been wanting to unwind a little bit, though not quite ready and up to being fully social out there at the moment again just yet, so, what to do.... hmm.. ah!... I finally broke down and checked out that nutty Toontown Online thing.... anybody else tried this? I don't recall hearing anyone talk about it...
It was interesting for a few hours.... :D
You can be a dog, a cat, a mouse, bunny, monkey or duck... (guess which!).. I think you can also be a pig or a .. was it a goat? I don't recall... ya hardly see anything other than the first few...
It runs from an Active-X sorta thing (not sure how on Macs), and it ran well enough for me to get around for a while, until I tried to go into my house. Could not get it to run, so I went to the other computer to try some other ideas... got it going again and past that... but it was starting to get a bit old by then... LOL :D
You basically go around and pick up points by doing some tasks, and then defeating Cogs, which are basically people dressed and acting like the Disney manager look... (LOL again!)...
The main frustrating thing tho was not the troubles with the vid card or compatibilities I got thru those eventually... but not being able to TALK fully... heheh! I can see it's needed there... lots of people swearing would really dim the experience, but heh... the censorship doesn't make it much better. It's funny at first... if you say a non-approved word, even something innocent (you can't say numbers) depending on your species, you will Quack or Squeak or Grrr or Meow... ;> The sounds were pretty hilarious!
Maybe it'd be better to not show the chat bubble at all, or.. have some sort of live delayed editing instead, or a feedback window to help you converse (they do have some preset phrases), ...but in just a few hours I did see some twinks trying to ruin things... so I guess they need something... One person was telling me they had been there two years and it was a bit expensive if you get keen stuff, like extra AV actions and facial expressions...
