The fire dept was especially lenient on us this year, but they still asked us to trim branches around the house... so today I was on the roof with the chainsaw and extension, buzzin' away...
All was going well, and then on the last branch I noticed the saw was out of oil. "aw geez, do I really wanna go back down and get the oil for just one branch?"
Uh... don't skimp the rules with machinery. ;P
Now I have a chainsaw stuck 40 feet up in a branch. LOL
Spent an hour trying to wriggle it out. I was thinking maybe I can squirt some oil up there, but maybe it'd be best to just borrow another saw to get them both down :D
Tomorrow...

Date: 2010-06-22 06:25 am (UTC)I hope things have worked out without much, uh, discomfort or detour...
I think I'm gonna go down the street and rent another saw for a couple hours (only $23) to get it down, and maybe for the remaining part of sawing up the bigger pieces before I take it back. Every time I'm tempted to stand on the crest of the roof and reach up there and tug on it, I remember how that Emu puppeteer guy died just falling off his roof... ;P
How's it going with the grass scythe?

Date: 2010-06-22 08:22 am (UTC)I still remember him (and Emu) fondly from the Hudson Brothers' show.
Actually, I haven't tried it yet: they were back-stocked and by the time it arrived, I'd already had a crew cut it. I did lend it to a friend with some monster-grass to cut, though: I'll get a full report on Wednesday!
