What is it with these lame-o little wall mount swivel mirrors?

You've been in those hotels, right? The ones that have the pull-out mirror in the bathroom, that allows you to trim the back of your hair without needing to hold the mirror, the comb, the trimmer, and all the other stuff an octopus would more easily hold..?

Am I remembering this wrong, or aren't the swivels longer? All I can find are these short short little 1 ft long ones... ;P
Most are super-expensive too... a few I found are over $400!!

Our bathroom does not have perpendicular walls, so I need a longer swivel arm... so I finally gave up on the world wide worthless web and made one for myself for about $15. Take THAT, internet!! ;D

I smell a patent. ;)

How stable is that? Some of those fixtures have crazy tension in the springs. I remember when I installed one, I didn't secure it properly to my desk and it literally slid off and flipped forward like a miniature catapult.

heheeeeeee!
Your story really sent me LOLing when I pictured that *sproing!!*
Glad noone died when that launched!

This thing is stable 'nuff so far.. I don't really know how to numerically gauge it... you're right though, they do vary in tension, especially at this price.

Apparatus $9
Mirror $1
Wire $4
Hanger $1
Total $15

I'm not counting the old lamp base, which we were just gonna throw away anyway.

And the reason I am using the standing base is that, well, I'm not really sure if the walls truly have no studs upon which to mount it, or if it's just that I cannot detect any... due to the reflective wallpaper! :D

You've usually got to be careful, I've found so many things cheaper locally than on the internet, and that includes secondhand items on ebay.

Hooray for your win :D

Indeed! We have a great 99cent store here, and most of the stuff is AMAZING! $20 computer programs for a dollar! Calling cards at a penny a minute! Tools... Lights... Videos... Shampoo... Cookies... Batteries... Gloves... a DOLLAR!

Some are slightly more than other places, like soda ... but it's a pretty good trade-off!
