Inconsiderate Drivers!!! .... Like when you WAIT before making a right turn, because there are kids in the crosswalk, not only because it's the law, AND the caring thing to do... and the GIANT truck behind you (who is able to see over me and should be aware of the pedestrians there)... HONKS!! as if to encourage me to run the kids over....

There are many junctions that I wish did not have right turn on red. Some impatient drivers expect you to cut into traffic when there isn't enough room for comfort.

I hear your frustration. I've been in areas where right-on-red is regarded at a requirement instead of an option. People need to leave for their intended destinations earlier if they're in such a hurry.

heh.. a lotta times I think they just don't LOOK when they should.. .of course after they do (if they do), they should be super repentent and pull their car over and apologize with voluminous gushings of humbled epiphany... :}

wow... a requirement?? bizarre..... I would think at least in those cases that there is still an exception for when pedestrians are crossing... :D

Some drivers don't see past the bumper of the car in front of them. Everything passed that doesn't exist for them. For example, if you slow down because you're reaching a red light, they'll impatiently pass you by the right and step on the gas just to reach the red light before you.

It's so bad here, that when I did my driving test last year in St John's (35 years of driving all around the world was not sufficient to avoid a complete oral and practical driving test), the tester specifically said that she expected to see full stops at stop signs and right-on-reds. A rolling stop won't cut it. Nobody here stops for either of those, and a few don't even slow down. Following the road rules and stopping at either requires one eye on the rear view to see if you're about to be rear-ended.

oof yeah.. I ALWAYS make complete stops at both stop signs and right turns, and I get honked at all the time.... for doing what Im supposed to do. Ive actually been stopped at unprotected lefts before with traffic blowing by the other direction and have had people raising hell about it...

I've actually seen complaints that the red light cameras that have been put in around here are nailing people who are making right turns on red without coming to a complete stop, instead of "real" red light violations. They don't seem to get that if you don't come to a stop before making the turn, you are running the light.

Heh...it's the same thing here. Drivers around here are awfully rude, there's little to no respect for the laws, most of them start honking like crazy at the very nanosecond the traffic light turns green. =P That's one of the reasons I don't drive.

Oh, I feel for you, feathery friend. Driving burned me out. For years, I had either driving jobs (courier, shuttle driver, car parts delivery, mascot road trips), or jobs that were like a 45 minute drive from home (or both). It became very stressful eventually. I hated dealing with the inconsiderate drivers. A few years ago we moved to the city and I started walking and taking the bus and stuff, and cut my driving habits to a fraction of what they once were. I found that my whole mood and disposition changed 200% with that change in life, and now when I ride with someone else and look at the horrible drivers, it reminds me of how grateful I am to not have to spend much time on the road anymore.

To illustrate my driving reduction: you know how oil changes are supposed to be every three months or 3000 miles? Ten years ago, in 2000, I was driving 300 miles a day, hence, oil change every ten days (not that I necessarily stuck to that). These days, after three months, I've usually only racked up a thousand miles. Ah yes, life is much more tranquil these days...

I had several driving jobs too 8}
*wowHUGS*... So many of those very types, too! In my case, the other people in the jobs were more of a stressor usually though... in fact one of the best jobs I had was one of those 300 mile a day ones... a company truck, and delivering parts to buildings being built!.. Was a hoot and adventure... but the thorn in the whole thing was that one person I had to work with was openly racially prejudiced, and management was afraid to fire him.
Another great driving job was for 7 full years, but it was only on private property...woot! The ones where I had to use my own car were kind of a drag though yeah...

And like ya said, I used to commute a lot too... near 100 miles a day on the average, and now it's about 10... so I don't see a whole lot of miles and incidents, but it's amazing how much keeeerap you can see in just those few miles too 8|

Well...the fact is that i have a fear of driving. It makes me way too nervous and to tell you the truth I never had the urge to drive most teenagers have...I only tried for my driver's lincense when I was 27y/o and just cuz I wanted to have the document, I had to try 4 freaking times. =P
