On a sidewalk cafe somewhere in France under the sun
sits a man, who until yesterday never won
But his car slipped off the road nearby
without him, without Herman
because he had just sold it
Herman in the sun at a sidewalk cafe
reads in the AD (Algemeen Dagblad, newspaper in the Netherlands) he isn't living anymore
His car had completely been burned down
and the man who bought it
stood under his name in the newspaper
O, o, o,
Take a little breath
O, o, o,
Seems like it's raining as always
But it's raining, and it's raining sunbeams
A week ago, in a park in Amsterdam
he looked back at his life and was shocked
He was a man whose life had already been defined
And of all his childhood dreams
only becoming old was realised
O, o, o,
Take a little breath
O, o, o,
Seems like it's raining as always
But it's raining, and it's raining sunbeams
On a bench at the park the decision came
Call it brave, call it fleeing, but I'm getting away
Now a week ago from now, and here he was sitting once again
with more freedom than he wished for, and now he had no idea
Herman reads the newspaper a hundred times
it really says so, at page eighteen, with a black border around it
Did he in the past keep all his opinions
and all his dreams hidden
Nu is 'ie niks niet niemand nergens meer
Now he is nothing not nobody nowhere anymore
so he can go whereever he wants
Herman pays the bill and stands up
he finally has the wind back in his hair
"I got a second chance
and that's more than I deserve
Maar als dit het is dit het , als dit het is dit het, als dit het is dit het,
but if this is it this is it, if this is it this is it, if this is it this is it
And we'll just wait and see"
O, o, o,
Take a little breath
O, o, o,
Seems like it's raining as always
But it's raining, and it's raining sunbeams
O, o, o,
Take a little breath
O, o, o,
Seems like it's raining as always
But it's raining, and it's raining sunbeams
...and it's raining sunbeams

Date: 2008-07-01 12:30 pm (UTC)It sounds like maybe he got a second chance...
or... maybe he didn't, and instead it's a lesson to everyone else, to embrace the moments... can't quite tell if he became a ghost, or living somehow again...
(at one point it says he isn't living, and then later it says he got a second chance... which would be a happier ending actually, kind of like Miracle on 34th St. ...) ^v^
