I saw the Lion King on stage last year when some friends took me, but I was going to take me mum to see it before it closes.. I've called several times and they've never been able to get us seats -together- on the right day at the right price, in near half a dozen tries. Weird, thought I.
So the other day I happened to be over on Sunset in Hollywood looking for a new stamp ceremony event, and I saw the theater close by, so I figured I'd try buying them right at the box office.

Getting them right there, they found the seats I wanted, and I avoided the TicketMaster fees, AND, they also had a free CD with 5 of the stage production songs on it, that they give to ya! I don't know if they do this every day, but I was kinda happy that all those things came together with buying them right at the box office :>

particularly, Hawaiian music, new and old?
Well, there's this great site Hawaiian Jamz which is on the verge of closing up if they can't pay all the new fees :\ They have always paid the BMI, ASCAP, etc fees, but the new CARP law adds LOTS more suddenly, as the law isn't quite settled into being kind to internet radio. Instead it groups smaller hobbyists in with gigantic corporate businesses right now.

See if you like the programming (show number 55 is a great start!), and if so, consider sending them a dollar to help keep exposure out there.. I know I've bought dozens of CDs I would never have known about, if I hadn't heard the tunes there. That's what radio is.. exposure to music.. but the gov't still hasn't figured that out in this new law yet.

See their Ohana page for more info.. take care! :>
